Julep Maven: February 2017: Cozy in Love + Free 12 Piece gift

It’s time to finish out the last of my February reviews that have been languishing.  Today I have my very first sub, the one that started it all: Julep. Their February “Cozy in Love” collection featured some new shades of their plush pouts and eye gliders plus some dusty hued polishes.

They also have a great free gift if you grab a subscription between now and July.

You can nab this 12 piece nail polish gift with a  new Julep beauty subscription. Just use code: POLISHGIFT

On to the box…

 MY CUSTOMIZABLE MAVEN BOX

When Pencil Met Gel – Clay

(Retail $16.00/Maven Price: $12.80)
Verdict: Love!
Color Description: Taupe Grey Matte
When Pencil Met Gel – Soft Black
(Retail $16.00/Maven Price: $12.80)
Verdict: Love!
Color Description: Charcoal Matte
“A waterproof eye pencil with the formula of a gel eyeliner that glides on smoothly without tugging or skipping. Sets in 30 seconds and provides 10+ hours of wear. Ophthalmologist tested.”
Julep’s eyeliners go on so smoothly and have excellent staying power.  I’ve become determined to collect all the shades.  Both of these are excellent staples that are perfect for everyday use.  The clay is a bit more understated and nice for those natural makeup looks.  The trick to these pencils is to be sure to sharpen them before each use.

Mariolis
(Retail $14.00/Maven Price: $11.20)
Verdict: Love!
Color: Dusty Coral Ghost Shimmer
I’m a sucker for those soft coral peach shades.  I think this is a perfect color for Spring.

Opalescent Crystal Nail Rhinestones
(Retail ???/Maven Price: ???)
Verdict: Love!
I had room in my maven box and I love opals so I figured these would be fun to try out.  You can’t buy these from the site normally so I’m not sure what the retail value would be.

FEBRUARY FREEBIE!

I love free samples of products.  It’s a great way to try things out before you commit.  Their cleansing oil is one of my go to products, so I’m going to save this to tuck into an overnight bag.

OVERALL:

Verdict:
Love!
I paid $21.39 and got two eyeliners I can use every day, a really pretty Spring polish and some fun nail stickers.  The retail value came out to $46, while the maven value was $36.80.  That’s even better than drugstore prices and these products are superior to anything I’ve tried from my local CVS.

To stick to my budget, I’ve skipped the last couple Maven boxes, but I did take one for May and I’ll have that review soon, so be sure to check back.

Do you like to switch up your polish colors with the seasons?
If so, what do you like to wear for Spring?

Once upon a time, long, long ago, Lisa attended Syracuse University where she studied singing in a giant castle surrounded by ice and snow. After she earned her music degree, she headed to the island of Manhattan, down to the West Village, to a place called the New School. There, she earned another degree in the great art of writing stories for children. She currently works on that same island trying to help real people, while making up stories about imaginary ones. Her first book, “The Ice Maiden’s Tale,” a fairy tale adventure, was released on May 30, 2017 and is up for sale on Amazon. In the meantime, she keeps herself occupied by obsessing over subscription boxes and home renovations.
