GoodMouth: February 2014

Okay so I’ve got a question to ask you.  (Don’t worry, I won’t tell anyone your answer.)

When’s the last time you changed your toothbrush?

It’s okay I don’t expect you to answer right away.  Take your time.  Was it last month?  No, wait it was the month before when you picked up a new one while you were buying detergent at Target?  No that wasn’t last month, that was the month before….

It’s fine, really.

With so much to keep track of no one I know really remembers when they replace their toothbrush, but it’s important to change it regularly not just for your dental  health, but your overall health.  Now there’s a great subscription that will send you replacement toothbrushes on just the right schedule and will do some good for others in need in the process.

GoodMouth is a toothbrush delivery subscription that sends you toothbrushes and floss.  You select how many folks are in your household and choose the frequency of toothbrush deliveries.  A healthy individual would get a delivery every other month and the cost for that subscription would be $4.95 every other month (shipping is free).  The total cost will change based on how many folks are in your household and the frequency of deliveries.  They will also send you a mesh bag when you start your subscription.

But I haven’t gotten to the best part yet.  GoodMouth participates in a program called Giving Goodness.  For every subscription purchased, GoodMouth will donate 2 brushes, or the equivalent in dental care to someone in need.  So you can give a little to those in need just by buying a toothbrush.  How great is that?

So the lovely peeps at GoodMouth, sent me a Jaguar Brush Kit with the Waxy Goodness Floss.

Toothbrush
I love the description: “Stalks its prey in the wild, kills germs in your mouth.”
Now that’s a toothbrush!

The Highlights:
Premium-quality Tynex® bristles made in the US..
End-rounded, polished bristles for supreme cleaning that is also gentle on gums.
Available in blue, green, and pink.

GoodMouth states this is their largest size and good for most adults.  I’d probably choose the next size down, the “Chameleon” since I have a smaller mouth, but this is a great brush and I’ll be tossing my current toothbrush and using this bad boy instead.

Also included was a 6 month supply of the Waxy Goodness floss.
As per the GoodMouth folks: “Also makes for the perfect tarzan style rope vine when combined 5,000 strips at a time.”
So apparently this is the floss Macgyver has been using.  I’ve been searching for this my whole life.

OVERALL
Verdict:
  Love!
This subscription might not be as exciting as a box of Neiman Marcus goodies or as fun as glitter polish, but it makes our lives more convenient while allowing us to help others in need and that’s a pretty cool thing.

Once upon a time, long, long ago, Lisa attended Syracuse University where she studied singing in a giant castle surrounded by ice and snow. After she earned her music degree, she headed to the island of Manhattan, down to the West Village, to a place called the New School. There, she earned another degree in the great art of writing stories for children. She currently works on that same island, in the dungeon of an old building, making up stories while she sorts through endless stacks of papers, just dreaming of working somewhere with windows. She is currently working on several novels and hopes to write her way to that aforementioned windowed place. Her first book, “The Ice Maiden’s Tale,” a fairy tale adventure was released on May 30, 2017 and is up for sale on Amazon. In the meantime, she keeps herself occupied by obsessing over subscription boxes and home renovations.

    • The chameleon brush is described as follows: “Soft .007 bristles surrounded by extra-soft .006 bristles.” so that one sounds like the sensitive option, but I’d shoot them an email and ask for details.

  1. Hi Karen, Dana here from GoodMouth. All of our brushes come with soft bristles, and are gentle on teeth and gums. We also have an ultra-soft option called The Panda, which comes in really slick black and white. This brush is great if you have any perio issues or very sensitive gums. If you have any questions about GoodMouth, please drop us a line at hello@goodmouth.com. I’ll get back to you right away.
